Chicago Trivia: Whaddya mean, the river isn't always that color?

It's a long-standing tradition, and one of the quirks of Chicago, that every year for St. Patrick's Day the river is dyed green. Who's the company responsible for turning the river chartreuse?

Flamingos at Lincoln Park ZooI was recently notified that one of my photos was chosen for the Schmap Guide to Chicago! To celebrate that selection, and to herald the arrival of spring, this week's prize is a framed print of this photo of the flamingos in Lincoln Park Zoo.

Congratulations to Carolyn Healy! She knew that Casimir Pulaski was the father of American cavalry. He gets his own holiday in Chicago because of the city's large Polish population.
